When Care Begins Before Birth: Supporting Families Through Complex Pregnancies and Neonatal Care
Thursday, July 16, 2026 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
Presenter: Tia Zlotnikoff, MSW, LMSW
OBGYN Clinical Social Worker, Johns Hopkins Hospital Center for Fetal Therapy
For families navigating high-risk pregnancies or fetal diagnoses, the experience of care often begins long before a baby is born. This session will explore the emotional, psychological, and practical realities faced by these families, drawing on clinical social work experience within a fetal therapy setting.
Tia Zlotnikoff, Perinatal Social Worker and Postpartum Care Specialist, will discuss how healthcare hospitality, housing, and non-clinical supports intersect with medical care, and what leaders can do to better support families during extended hospitalizations, uncertainty, and transition between home and care settings.
